Understanding Gas Pressure and Atmospheric Pressure

Gas Pressure
-Gas particles in a container are in continuous random motion.
-They collide with the walls of the container and bounce back.
-The gas pressure in the container is a result of the force exerted on the walls by the gas particles during the collisions.

Atmospheric Pressure
-Earth is surrounded by a thick layer of atmosphere.
-Atmospheric pressure is the pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere,at any point,on the earth's surface.
-Atmospheric pressure acts in all directions.
-Atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing altitude.
